Putting It All Together

Creating a good user interface is a compilation of all the principles described thus far. The following scenario describes an activity flow demonstrating use of color, navigation, motion and status in the appropriate template areas. The following steps in Fig. 11 illustrate a typical sequence of events using a Blue-ray player device as an example:

  1. User selects activity source (Blue-ray) in the Task Bar
    1. Icon highlights
  2. Device Controls and Secondary Device Controls slides in from the righ
    1. Appropriate controls highlight
  3. Blue-ray source is shown in the Activity Area
    1. A description of the source is shown in the lower left corner of the preview window
    2. A close button is included in the lower right corner of the preview window

Secondary navigation is dependent upon the device control selected. The device can be deactivated by x on preview window or by tapping the device control a second time.
