Conf iguring Default Communication Settings

The Workspace Communication Settings dialog allows you to specify the default communication settings.

  1. Select Settings > Workspace Communication Settings to open the Workspace Communication Settings dialog (FIG. 228).

  1. Click the Default Settings button to access the Communications Settings dialog.
  2. Select a tab containing the default settings you want. Perform one of the following:

    • If you want the default to be a Master, select the Recent or Network tab, select the Master you want as the default, and click Select. If you do not see the Master you want, see the

      Manually Entering the Master’s IP Address Information section on

      page 120

      or the

      Listening for Masters on the Network section on page 12

    • If you want the default to be serial settings, select the Serial tab and configure the communication settings as desired.
    • If you want the default to be a USB-connected device, select the USB tab, select the device you want as the default, and click Select.
    • If you want the default to be a Virtual NetLinx Master, select the Virtual NetLinx Master tab, select the connection you want as the default, and click Select.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and close the Communications Settings dialog, returning you to the Workspace Communication Settings dialog.
  4. Verify that the settings are as expected, and click OK to close the Workspace Communication Settings dialog.
