Creating a New System

When you create a new System, it is automatically added to the Project that is currently selected (highlighted) in the Workspace Bar (Workspace tab):

  1. Select the Project that you want to add the new System to in the Workspace tab.
  2. Select New System from the Project menu to open the New System dialog. Use the options in this dialog to specify an

Identifier, System ID and Description for the new System (FIG. 61):

  1. Click Communication Settings to open the Communications Settings dialog, to specify the System communications settings:
    • If the System is a Master, select the Recent or Network tab, select the Master you want, and click Select. If you do not see the Master you want, see the Manually Entering the Master’s IP Address Information section on page 120 or the Listening for Masters on the Network section on page 121.
    • If the System is a serial device, select the Serial tab and configure the communication settings as desired.
    • If the System is a USB-connected device, select the USB tab, select the device you want as the default, and click Select.
    • If the System is a Virtual NetLinx Master, select the Virtual NetLinx Master, select the connection you want as the default, and click Select.

  1. Click OK to add the new System to the selected Project.
