Import and Export Preferences (*epx f iles)

Use the Import Preferences and Export Preferences options in the Tools menu to import and export Export Preference (*.EPX) files.

    • Import Preferences - This option allows you to import a (previously exported) program preferences configuration (.epx file. Before you can select an EPX file, the programs alerts you that the imported file will overwrite the current program preferences settings. Click *OK to access the Open dialog, where you can locate and select the desired EPX file.
    • Export Preferences - Select Tools > Export Preferences to open the Export Preferences dialog.

The options in this dialog allow you to export the current Editor preferences (as defined in the Preferences dialog) as an *.epx file, which can later be imported back into NetLinx Studio via the Tools > Import Editor Preferences option.

Exporting Preferences

  1. Select Tools > Export Preferences to open the Export Preferences dialog (FIG. 318):

Export File Name: Click the Browse (...) button to access the Save As dialog, where you can specify a name and target directory for the exported *.EPX file.
Export Preferences Options: Click the check boxes (or Select All and Deselect All buttons) to specify which type(s) of preferences you want to include in the exported *.EPX file.
  1. In the Export File Name field, enter a file name for the Export Preference (*.epx) file that will be created.
  2. Under Export Preferences Options, select which Preferences options to include in this Export Preference (*.epx) file.
  3. Click OK to generate the *.epx file.
  4. The program notifies you that the *epx file has been generated (FIG. 319):

Importing Preferences

  1. Select Tools > Import Preferences.
  2. The program will alert you that loading an epx file will overwrite existing preference configuration - click *Yes to continue (FIG. 320):

  1. In the Open dialog, select an Export Preference (*.epx) file.
  2. Click Open to open the selected file, close this dialog, and apply the preference configuration saved in the selected *epx file.
  3. The program notifies you that the *epx file has been imported (FIG. 321):
